During these unique whisky festivals and during the summer months and other special events, the famous Keith and Dufftown Railway is operational which provides an idyllic opportunity, to relax and capture the majestic country side allowing you nothing but to enjoy the views. The railway runs for 11 miles from Dufftown railway station to Keith Town via Drummuir.
Other pursuits away from the railway and the whisky tours, you can find the local Golf course which not only received acclaim from Sam Torrance for the 10th hole, but also features in “Britain's 100 Extraordinary Golf Holes” by Geoff Harvey and Vanessa Strowger. Fishing, Walking and Skiing are also attractions which are well supported throughout the area and the River Spey is one of the finest salmon fishing rivers in Scotland. Huntly Nordic and Outdoor Centre is Britain's only purpose-built al-weather facility for cross-country skiing. Skiing is available during the winter at the Lecht Ski Centre, approx 30 mins from Dufftown and at Aviemore less than an hour away.
Least we not forget the Dufftown Highland games which are held on the last Saturday of July where you can witness traditional events and the massed pipe Bands.
